MUSCADET VINS DE NANTES is governed by the Fédération des Vins de Nantes.
In application of article L 642-17 of the Code Rural, the Fédération des Vins de Nantes has been recognized as an Organisme de Défense et de Gestion (ODG) by decision of the Director of the INAO for the following AOCs: MUSCADET, MUSCADET SEVRE & MAINE, MUSCADET COTEAUX de la LOIRE, MUSCADET COTES de GRANDLIEU, GROS PLANT du PAYS NANTAIS and COTEAUX d’ANCENIS.
The Federation contributes to the general mission of preserving and promoting local terroirs, traditions and skills, as well as the products they produce.
Missions :
- Elaboration and development of specifications, the basis of the AOC, in conjunction with INAO.
- Participation in the Inspection Plan (Control)
- Protection of the name and appellation areas
- Promote the product, in particular by implementing internal and external communications for the Vins de Nantes AOC.
- Determining research and experimentation programs with a view to improving AOC quality and typicity.
- Defend the interests of the winegrowing sector in dealings with partners and public authorities.
Organization:
A ODG POLE in sections for the three Vins de Nantes AOCs (specifications, control mission, protection of the name and areas, technical and experimentation, coordination of communal crus).
A COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT to develop the reputation and image of its AOCs.
A STRATEGIC COUNCIL to defend the interests of winegrowing and coordinate the vineyard’s strategy in conjunction with its partners (Chambre d’agriculture 44, Syndicat des vins IGP section 44, Syndicat des Vignerons Indépendants Nantais, Cooperatives, etc.).
Each cluster is governed by a college of elected winegrowers and administered by a team of permanent staff. The Strategic Council elects its Chairman.
The Federation’s head office is located at Château de la Frémoire in Vertou.
